Ok back to basics, this is a trick you learned back in the beginning but probably forgot. This method is used to move text (and some graphics and sound files) from one place to another in a document, or between different documents or even between different programs, you can even use this trick to copy between internet sites, like Personal ad's, saves a lot of typing. Using this method you can write 'whatever' in your favorite text program like 'Word' or 'Word Perfect', using their tools (spell check etc.) before entering it in a 'forms' text box. (Like Guest Books, Personal ad's, Forums or e-mail.)
- First thing to do is 'select' whatever you want to move or copy. (It can be one letter to several paragraphs, or multiple pages.) To 'select' use your mouse to place cursor at the start of whatever you want to copy, hold down the left clicker and drag over the text till everything you want is highlighted.
- Now press and hold down the 'Ctrl' key and tap the 'C' key. Whatever you have 'selected' has now been copied to a mythological place called 'The Clip Board' where it will remain until you shut off your computer or replace it with the next thing.
BTW: Click away from the selected text to de-select after copying.- Now you need to go where you want to put it. Place the cursor where you want it to start, hold down the 'Ctrl' key and tap the 'V' key... and there it is, easy huh.
- Alternate Method Note: 1- Once you have something 'selected' you can also go up top to 'Edit' and choose 'Copy' or 'Paste', does the same thing as using the 'Ctrl C' or 'Ctrl V' trick. Or 2- Select anything then 'Short Cut' (right click) and select 'Copy', go where you want it, 'Short Cut' (right click) again and choose 'paste'.
